PRE-POINT PHYSIOTHERAPY with Nicole
As you prepare to embark on the exciting journey of pointe work in ballet, ensuring your body is ready for the increased demands is crucial. At Newport Physio & Health, our Pre-Pointe Physiotherapy service is designed to provide you with a comprehensive assessment and tailored guidance to help you transition safely and effectively.
Pre-Pointe Assessments
If your ballet teacher has advised that you’re ready to start preparing for pointe work, or if you’re planning to begin pointe work in the coming year, booking a pre-pointe assessment with our experienced dance physiotherapist, Nicole, is an excellent step. Here’s what you need to know:
- No Referral Required: You can book an assessment directly without needing a referral.
- Comprehensive Report: You’ll receive a full report detailing your assessment findings and recommendations.
- Personalised Exercise Plans: We provide exercise plans specifically tailored to your needs.
- Experienced Care: Our assessments are conducted by physiotherapists with a strong background in dance.
- Functional Assessment: We focus on a targeted functional assessment to gauge your readiness.
What to Expect
Transitioning to pointe shoes involves increased physical demands on your body. It’s essential to ensure you’re prepared for this new challenge. During your pre-pointe assessment, Nicole will evaluate your strength, mobility, and overall readiness to safely begin pointe work.
Your Treatment
The pre-pointe assessment will identify areas where you may need to build strength or improve mobility before you buy your first pair of pointe shoes. Based on these findings, you’ll receive a tailored exercise program to address any areas needing attention.
When Should I Get a Pre-Pointe Assessment?
We recommend scheduling a pre-pointe assessment approximately 2-3 months before you plan to start pointe work. This timeframe allows us to identify any areas that need improvement and implement a customised home exercise program. A follow-up assessment may be necessary to ensure that the exercise program is effectively preparing you for pointe work.
Ready to Start Your Pre-Pointe Journey?
At Newport Physio & Health, we’re here to support you as you prepare for this exciting milestone in your ballet training. Book your pre-pointe assessment with Nicole and take the first step towards a successful and safe pointe experience.
