About Josh
Why did you choose to be a Physio?
I chose to pursue a career in physiotherapy because I have a genuine passion for helping people improve their quality of life and achieve their goals. I find it deeply rewarding to contribute to the well-being of others, especially within my local community.
Before becoming a physiotherapist, I worked as a personal trainer, where I developed a strong foundation in supporting individuals to reach their physical potential. Transitioning to physiotherapy felt like a natural progression, allowing me to expand my skill set and work with a broader range of individuals, including those who may be more vulnerable or recovering from injuries.
Physiotherapy provides me with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives by guiding them through their recovery and helping them regain their confidence and independence. It’s a career that combines my passion for movement, health, and community service.
What do you love about working at Newport Physio and Health?
Aside from the supportive and dedicated team at Newport Health and Physio, one of the best things about working here is the fantastic location. With a great coffee shop, gym, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, and a beautiful canal all within walking distance, it truly has everything you could need close by.
Tell us about a couple of your hobbies?
Outside of the clinic, you can often find myself engaging in strength and conditioning sessions at the gym. When away from healthcare, I enjoy sampling local craft beers, playing video games and enjoying moments with friends and family.
What is a funny story that not many people would know about you?
During a first aid course I attended with a friend, something amusing happened. For context, we look nothing alike, have different last names, and there’s no obvious connection between us—except that we happened to be wearing similar-coloured clothes that day.
The presenter jokingly asked, “Who dressed you two?” Without missing a beat, my friend replied, “Our mum, and she’d be proud of us.” From that moment on, after checking both our names off the list, the presenter referred to us as brothers for the rest of the course, much to everyone’s amusement.
